hey all :)
just wanting to pick your brains.

at the moment i've got a carl rbt personal paper trimmer. it's doing the job for me but if i wanted to upgrade, what other trimmers should i be keeping an eye out for?

and are rotary blades the way to go? what makes them so good?

OH I LOURVE my rotary blade!

I have a cutterpede I think it is spelt, and have had the same blade for over 12 months, and it still ucuts well. this one you can buy extra blades, like a scorer, so if your a card maker, and wavy lines too I think, Kidston wholesale sell it.

I think it was about $45?

but the rotarty blades are worth their weight in gold!

I hada caterpede and loved it, but the poor thing nearly dies so after much deliberation i went for the Kaiser Cutter and I looooove it.... it too has roatry blades and interchangable blades as well

Same as Sammi -
have a pink fiskars paper trimmer for papers and a Tonic guillotine for a neater cut with my pix.

The blade on the fiskars trimmer dulls over time, but I'm not having to buy them too often - and a two pack of blades is only about $7

I have 3 different cutters.

Creative memories guilitine cutter. Great for cutting photos. I found when using my other trimmers to cut my photo they would become blunt a lot quicker. Just love this cutter for this reason.

I have the cutterpede. Great cutter highly recommended. Also great for taking to crops as so light weight and portable. Unfortunately my 2 yo got to it and it is not so healthy. SO now I only use it as a scorer.

I have recently purchased the Making Memories Rotary cutter. Love it. It is sturdy, also folds in half. Comes with a magnetic ruler which you can use to secure you paper in place. Though not so practical for taking to crops.

I heard on the grape vine that the supplier for cutterpede has gone under so you may be unable to get one.....

I don't think you will ever get everyone to agree on what is the ideal paper trimmer. I still have the Making Memories trimmer on my wish list. I know that Lorrie is able to get these for you. I have a cutterpede but not overly impressed with it but then again I never seem to be able to make nice straight cuts no matter what I use. LOL.... I have been considering getting a tonic guillotine.

yep definetely can get you in a MM if you like, they seem to be very sturdy but as Lyndall said, perfect for home but if your cropping, would be heavy to carry. I also can get in the kaiser cutters... ( i usually have them in stock...) if you do want to find out about any of them, drop me a line and i will see what i can do

Apparently Print Blocks is going to be taking over. So I heard when I was last in one of the shops up this way.

I love my Kaiser trimmer. Just might have to invest in some of these cutting mats before they are no longer available.
