mmmmmmmmmmmmm

As I am one of the most technology challenged people I know  (If no member of my family is at home I can't watch a DVD as I don't know how to operate the damn machine :o) I have decided to set myself some goals to reach by the end of the year :) :)

1. Learn how to use the DVD player
2. Learn how to upload from the camera BY MYSELF
3. Learn how to use my camera more efficently (I have many lens and filters)

I think that's enough as I could feel my blood pressure rise as I was writing these goals down

So ladies what goals are you setting yourselves??

Ange I am sure that you will do really well being able to achieve your goals.

I would like to teach myself how to use Photoshop. There are so many cool things you can do with photos and I would love to learn how. Of course this requires actualy being able to buy the program first but I suspect that may already be happening. Will find out for sure next month.

I would also like to be able to buy a new camera and learn all about its features and be able to take better photos.

What kind of camera do you own Ange?

Probably a million other things too but i am too busy to think of them;)

One goal down, 2 to go

I learnt today how to "upload" was told I had to use the correct terminology :rolleyes::) from my camera so watch out.

Shaz I have a Nikkon D50 and a telephoto, zoom and wide-angle lenses and too many filters to list. My next purchase is a dedicated flash as the built in one is good but only if your in a 2 metre range which sometimes in just not possible.

I haven't used any of the lenses- how bad is that.:eek:. So that's why I want to learn more about the camera and start using it to its full potential.

Most of the photos of Alice and Sophie that I scrap however are pre-digital days so thats why those piccies aren't that fabulous.

As for Photoshop, yep would love to learn the basics but I am not that good on computers at the best of time, you should see me in Word and Excel. However over the last year at work I have had to fully develop a course that is delivered on-line using Blackboard and man has that been a challenge. But I've done it so maybe Photoshop won't be that scary after all. Its like Sharon said "time", I am just about keeping my head above water this term with all the students I have and now have been asked to develop a public course for the qualification I teach. Term 4 is looking even busier than term 3 and as I am also planning for next years intake I don't think I'll have the time to learn Photoshop, perhaps in the school holidays (Chrimble ones)

Would like to know more about photoshop as well, and how to use my camera more too.

Envious of all those lenses you have Ange..... Damn girl get them out for a play.

Other than technical, my biggest goal is to actually finish my course I'm doing.

Im off to a gala next week, (well maybe not now) and was on a shopping tour, off I went to try on dresses and finally had a slap in the face that "wholey shit girl, get off the scales before the break" and "Get me off before you split my seems" while trying on a dress... So my 1st goal is to get it in my head that i HAVE to loose weight, the second goal is to loose the weight, or at least a dress size before xmas..... the 3rd would be to hold a very successful retreat that is talked about for months... and the final one is to plan a holiday so I can have some ME time, cos god knows i bloody need it right now!!!

I've never really set goals for myself as I never seem able to stick to them to achieve them. I just kinda plod along and hope to get there.
In saying that though - the weightloss has been important to me. I kinda had that moment as well lorrie - 'damn, I really do need to do something about it' so I looked into different ways that I could do it and set myself the time frame of my 30th birthday. I've lost the initial 20kgs that I originally set weeks ago but then changed it to 30kgs - birthday being only a couple of weeks away I won't get to the 30 (close but no cigar) but thats ok - as long as I stick with it.
If I had to choose a goal for myself right now it would have to be 'to relax'. Not sweat the little things that normally get to me, don't tie myself down with things that are not important and learn to accept that life doesn't go to plan so enjoy the little 'side trips' that pop up - which seems to happen quite often for us.

I have found a great web site to buy books from.

www.bookdepository.co.uk

I've brought books about photoshop elements from here. Heaps cheaper than buying through bookshops, no extra cost for postage and they arrive within the week.

I think its better than amazon.

Sammi,

I got a book called
Photoshop Elements 4 Gone Wild, written by Dave Huss. ISBN 13: 978-0-7645-9991-0. This book works you through a number of exercises using elements 4. Whats even better is you can download the photos and do exactly what they are doing.

I've also got one called
adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 Maximum performance written by Mark Galer. ISBN 13: 978-0-240-52048-3.

Both these books I got off the UK site and together they cost less that what it would cost to buy one from Boarders or angus & Robinsons
