Hello everyone,
I stumbled across this forum while searching for the Making Memories Paper Trimmer. Seems like a very warm place here with everyone knows everyone! =) I've only started playing with paper crafts this January when my friends and I went to Sydney for the weekend. There at Paddington Market I discovered Quilling, back to Melbourne I moved on to Embossing, Stamping, Sizzix/Cuttlebug die cuts, Brownies (Not paper brownies! hahaha) and now colouring! Ahhh... The endless possibilities of paper art. LOVE IT! :D
So ummm... hmmm... Could you lovelies with the MM Paper Trimmer convince me that its the BEST paper trimmer in the market? I'm having second thoughts about it but maybe its the $$ problem. :| HELP!
Thanks for letting me blab on. :D Hope to get to know you lovelies better! =)

If I can help you further, let me know....

hi Welcome to the site.....
yep it is friendly site here there is no doubt...(((so i dare ya to jump on in, on any of the topics))...and these ladies are certainly a huge part of my cyber life .....actually i would be lost with out their company. my DH works away ..
so it is nice to mingle with the mentals...cause they are crazy and crack me up ladies
you should join us in a Cyber crop night ,,,,these are were you really get to know a lot about the girls .....he he he ...like
Anthea suffers from early signs of Parkinson's(she seems to have a drink dropping problem)...
Hetty silent but full of mischief (and lends her knickers to every body) .....
Maria is the intelligent one (often pays attention to weird documentaries on T.V. only for educational purposes of course )
Lorrie is always there in full swing ( well ready to swing anybodies boots under her bed dare a male enter the chat....he he he )
Nic is often in for the chat but sometimes says that 3 little-Es tire her out (((but we know what she did to get those 3 little-Es so yes she is sometimes tired out)))
Sharon and Tracy are the artistic ones ....they are often found splashing about rather creatively......((just as well it is kindy glitz with a bit of red wine ))
And Angie is the reserved lady in the group and hopes her ears hold on out to the topics that some times bring themselves to chats (she is so reserved about it ...she actually has reserved the next years date of CC into her diary cause she doesn't want to miss out)))
and for the rest of us we are just there for the good company and great challenges ...though some times i am there just to feel the love cause .Theres always room for one more in my happy van......
so i Dare ya, fortheloveofpaperart, come and join on in...the next one is

Hello FTLOPA,
I am sorry to let you know but there is not one perfect paper cutter that does everything. I have a couple of paper cutters all of which i use at different times. I will list my other cutters to as a comparison.
My MM paper cutter is great. pros can cut up to 3 pieces of paper at the one time. is solid and strong. Folds in half. Gives a good quality cut. cons bulky so not so good to be taking along to crops. you have to use the lines to line up your paper rather than just pushing it along a straight edge. The main grid is in inches (though they do have centimeters listed just not as obvious).
Cuttlerpede Cutter by EK Success. pros, portable extendable arm. Interchangeable blades ie cutting, scoring etc. light weight. cons, regulary change the cutting mat. Not child friendly or rough treatment friendly - I am onto my second one. Main grid in inches harder to line up in cm's.
Creative Memories Trimmer. pros, great cutter. fantastic for cutting photos. has a drawer underneath. In centimeters. con's, on in cm's, can not cut anything that is over 17cm's.
My most used trimmer is the Cutterpede. Though I am not going to recommend this only because it prodominately shows inches and if you work in cm's is a bit annoying to line up.
I am going on a limb here and recommending a brand I do not even own the kaiser cutter (which Lorrie sells). It does the same as the cutterpede but is predominately in cm's. When my cutterpede gives up the ghost I will be purchasing the kaiser trimmer.
So in a nutshell if you want a trimmer that is heavy duty and you have a permanent place on your desk for it I recommend the MM cutter.
If you want a light weight, portable cutter that also has interchangeable blades go the kaiser.
Hope this helps.
P.S Lorrie got the MM cutter in for me at a great price.

Wow Lyndall, what a perfect cutter comparrison.
I have to agree with you about all of the above. I used to love my cutterpede but I find they are expensive to replace, are very fragile (for those of us who are heavy handed :p) and parts can be hard to find.
But then I went to Kaiser. Cheap, light weight. easy to cut, measure, interchange blades etc, parts are available and affordable and I find sturdier than the cutterpede (put it this way, I have had for a few years now and havent broken it yet )
AND
I have them in store atm for $25 plus you get a free pack of replacement mats too.
but all I can say is go to a crop and ask to use peoples cutters to compare and get what you feel is comfortable to use. (ohhh and if your left handed like me this throws in a whole new ball game :D)

Thanks phatassphairy for the welcome + introduction to most of the regular scrapbook addicts (hope that doesn't sound bad!!) and everyone for the replies to this post! =)
I feel so welcome and accepted here already! By the way, just call me Jo or Joann. :) I should have used Joann instead of this long nick. :|
Thanks Lyndall for the comparison, I would go for portability I suppose and I definitely agree that there are no perfect cutters out there! I have NO ROOM for anymore chunky things that needs a set place. :( *sighs* The comparison does help with my decision though!
Lynne, thanks for the invitation! I have a boyfriend... Hubby and kids maybe in the future but he did say he doesn't want kids or even marriage. *BIGGER SIGHS* But then again, this month is our 7th month together as a couple. Happy and going strong! He's my driver too! XD Berwick is a fair way though. We'll see how it goes!
Lorrie, I'm right handed. :D If I'm left handed, I'm up for that challenge! hehehe Unfortunately, I only know of one friend who scraps but she doesn't have time anymore. I'll check out the Kaiser cutter later. I've been looking at Fiskars too but they keep getting bad/average reviews.
Mmm... Men in uniform... Especially fireman... My boyfriend better not read this! He's a mechanic. hahaha

Welcome
Nice to meet you.
Sammi PMSL
As for Cybercrops you had better not be a prude because sometimes there are some rather crude comments and discussions but OH SO MUCH FUN.
As for our Boss Lady as long as there are no more earth tremmors in Melbourne we should be safe - she has trouble keeping her clothes on (well actually putting clothes on after a shower/bath) but thats another story.
You will also learn 'alot' about Sammi and her Loverboy (much more than you will probably want to know!!).
its heaps of fun here and hope you enjoy. All the gals are fantastic cyber buddies.

Thank you, ladies!! =) Unfortunately, the last time I made a card was for Mother's Day. *sighs* I just keep losing the motivation... By the time I get home from work, I'm tired. During the weekend, I'd rather go out to play. hehehe It comes to me at times when I don't have the tools and resources. Not fair! Hope to get back into it real soon!!
ps: Lorrie... Any chance of getting the Crop-A-Dile Big Bite II for me, please? =) Oh! And where would I be able to pick up the item?

Thanks Sammi! I'm still thinking about it. :| If I don't make my $500 target in a quarter, I'll be a deactivated demonstrator. I also don't know a lot of people who loves paper crafts. :(
Sharon, it was ok. A lot of quilting stuff. I'd say maybe 2/5 of the expo are scrapbook stuff? I planned to go this morning but because the man didn't feel like driving, we slept in instead. Prices are pretty much the same compared to buying online. I didn't have much time while I was at the Expo. My friend and I had to rush back to work... Meant to be 30mins lunch break but we took 1hr 15mins to and fro. :| Glad the boss wasn't there! hahaha
