Hi Ladies Just thought I would ask all who live around this area a few questions about Berwick and surrounding areas including Kambrya College as we are looking at housing at the moment and wondering if we should move out that way. The most important decision is about the schooling as Em is starting high school next year. We were looking at Frankston South as the High school there is supposed to be fantastic but have also heard good things about Kambrya – and the housing around there is so much more affordable.

Sharon (and others) I would be really interested in your opinion on the schools in the area. Em is doing year 7 (primary in QLD includes year 7 and prep only newly introduced so Em didnt do prep) this year so not sure what to do next year whether to put her in year 7 again or go to year 8. Her birthday is in November and she turns 13 so I think she will be a bit older but would prefer her to start in year 7.

Also wondering about primary schools in the area as Zoe will be starting in 2 years.

We also like some houses in Beaconsfield.??????

How long does it take to get into town??

Is public transport OK? How is infastructure?

Where do you shop?

Is the crime rate OK?

Are their any troubles with ethnic groups in the area??

How long would it take to get to Casey Hospital from there?

Sorry for all the questions but we are really lost at the moment as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated. it has been 15 years since I lived in Melbourne and Berwick and surrounding areas where kind of "out bush" back then. We did visit The Chase estate and display center a few years ago and really loved the feel of the area.

Thanks Ladies and hey I might be moving even closer to you gals than I thought!!!

Cant help you about the school but Michele's daughter went there and for memory I think their program is extensive... Has the best media program in the state so I hear.

Actually come to think of it the neighbours kids go there so will find out more for you.

I live in Officer/Beaconsfield and I love it

when you say town, do you mean Melbourne City or something else? If the city it take about 45 minutes on the freeway, 1 road all the way no traffic lights!!

I just got a brochure for the public transport, I could get another 1 for you if you like and send it to you so you can have a look. There are Trains and a very good bus service.

I shop in Berwick in a little IGA store but there are centres everywhere. Beaconsfield has an Aldi and the Safeway will be built about October.3
Berwick has Coles, Safeway and IGA and has lots of cafes and specialty stores, very quaint and posh area really but very beautiful,
Fountain Gate is no more than 10 minutes away and that it bloody massive... or if your a cath and Kim fan (fountain Lakes)...

I have never had a problem with crime. In fact there is not a lot about crime in the local paper and half the time my house isnt locked and all has been fine.

No probs with Ethnic groups at all....

And Casey Hospital is in Berwick/Beaconsfield. It take's me about 7 minutes to the hospital if that!!

Hope thats helped

Tracey,

I have heard nothing but good reports about Kambrya. One of the boys that trains with my kids goes there and his family is very happy with the school.

In fact when I was looking for a school for Callum to go to (he's in Yr 11 now) I thought about that one, even though it would have meant abit of driving. But in the end we settled with the local one cause thats where his mates were going.

I love the Berwick, Beaconsfield area, but also where I live if a lovely area is you want to take a look. Narre Warren North.

The closest high school is Gleneageles in Endeavour Hills. It was a yr 7 to 10 school but this year they have started year 11 and it will be a yr 7 to 12 school from next year.

In fact there is land for sale up in the Narre Warren North township, now that would be a lovely spot to live. It is like a little village. There is a new IGA there and a little bakery/cafe that has the best cakes.

Love living in this area and my girls went to Berwick High School which was and is a good school. Heard good things about Kambrya. Not fussed on Fountain Gate as a shopping centre but the shops and restuarants in Berwick are great.

45 minutes to the city, only in the middle of the day or at night. During peak hour it is mental.

Crime is the same anywhere.

Casey hospital is quite central to Beaconsfield, Berwick, Narre Warren South etc.

Happy house hunting

Ange

Thanks heaps ladies we are starting to lean more to the Berwick area I think. Like the sound of the schools - Sharon if you could get some more info that would be great. I have downloaded the prospectus for Berwick High and Kambrya. Apparantly The Chase estate area has a new Primary School as well. We are leaning more towards the South side of Pacific highway in Kambrya zone.
I have a cousin in Narre North and she sends her son to Fountain Gate College for the pre apprenticship program with him booked in at year 10 to Beacon Hills if he needs it?????
My other problem is what we do with Em about doing year 7 or 8???
Oh so many things to think about. But who knows I may be living even closer to you gals than first thought - YAY.

OMG trac, that is just behind my house.... you would be my neighbour and i can see you from my back door.

The freeway you cant hear a thing and because of that, the hwy gets minimum local traffic only now.
As for the trains....blah!!! i was worried about that and i dont hear a thing. The only train I hear is about 9pm and its the frieght train.

Look on that map, look along tantallon, the continuation along that is hammerwood (thats where I live) it goes around like a horse shoe, well im on the far end of that (closest to the house your looking at) b4 it goes around the corner....

Ohhh youve got me all excited..... It's on top of a huge hill and the scenery is gorgeous at night.

Mum and dad went today to have a look and mum feel in love with it. A few things against it - the 3 beds downstairs are fairly small and as Zoe is still only small Chris and I would probably have to bunk downstairs in one of those rooms whilst the lucky 13 year old DD would have the parents retreat and bed upstairs.
Mum said a bit of road noise but not unbearable. the real estate agent believed starting price would be $450000 (for the life of me cant work out why they put a price of asking $430000 to $480000 on the real estate.com)?????
Anyway we will sit for a bit and see what happens. Mum said HEAPS of people at the open (3rd open house for the property) and the real estate agents said there was lots of interest yet when mum and dad got home there was a message on their answering machine to ask what they thought??

Hi Ladies need some help (advice) again.
We are looking at a house in Berwick near the Berwick Springs Wetlands?? Off Clyde Road on Moondarra Drive.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this area?
Are the mozzies bad???
Is Eden Rise shopping center OK??

Sharon have you found out anything about the schools? This house is near St Catherines Catholic Primary and St Francis College Junious school. But still in Kambrya catchment.

This is doing my head in!! We missed the house in Royal Parade Beaconsfiled - BUMMER so back to the drawing board.
I want to get back to scrapping and stop house hunting.
HUGS

Eden Rise Has A Coles, A Butcher, Donut King, Takeaways, Newsagents, A Cheap Shop And A Westpac Bank And Thats About It.
Not Sure About The Mozzies But I Could Ask My Hair Dresser, She Lives In The Area. Its Really Nice Place To Walk Around In Summer And Blaine And I Go Feed The Ducks And A Bike Ride. Hope That Helps.

I Used To Live Not Far From There Trac When I Lived Next Door To Suzie, It Is A Nice Area But Bummer About Royal Parade... You Would Have Loved It
