One of the things i love about camping ...is we take the board games and cards
and when we were living in charters ...they have huge electrical storms and you always loose power so board games by candle light ...is a good time waster

Grant very much dislikes playing them ...lol...but the kids and i love it .....but i am sort of looking for a new one .....so i thought this might be the place to sniff out which one to buy ....not they are expensie...but i don't want to go spend $30 - $50 bucks on a crappy one .......so what games do you have ....and give me little spiel on them please

I've just bought myself Monopoly - was on special with the Big W toysale, not any of the 'flash' new versions, just plain old monopoly.
Have bought it for the kiddos before but they were too young and just ended up wrecking it - so this is mine and I put it away after we play each time, so it'll last us.

LOL, on a side note - I don't think I'm a great 'game player' .... unless it's just me and the kiddos. When Steven plays monopoly with the kiddos and I, he usually ends up kicking our butts and my blood pressure usually ends up rising to the point where I wanna chuck the whole darn board at him :o:D .... other than that, I usually enjoy board games heaps. :D

Uno is another fave of mine, any card games with a normal pack as well.
Love scrabble - though steven doesn't and it's a little frustrating playing against the kiddos who like to make up words.

uno, skipbo, phase 10, old maid, any of those card games we tend to play more of.

Blaine has a lot of games but i think his fav is still the old snakes and ladders or trouble

Pass the pigs is fun... its like a dice game but instead of dice you use pigs....

Or yahtzee.... my mum plays it every single day (drives me nuts watching her sometimes...lol) or she likes scrabble but tends to play that on the playstation on her own.

nope, haven't heard of that one - but will keep an eye out for it when i'm out and about.
Speaking of side benefits - monopoly's great for learning about money. Maddy struggles with understanding change, cost, greater than etc - so monopoly has been great with her having to figure it as we play.

Didn't realise you can get scrabble on playstation - another one to keep an eye out for. Actually, might check online and see if you can play over the net.

Ditto with the trouble game here as well - big fav of the kiddos as it's pretty easy to play. The 'popping' sound gets on my nerves a bit if I'm in the same room too long though .... kinda on a par with knuckle cracking for me.

Did you see those mini board games that Macca's had/have out? They were pretty cool for a cheapo version. The kiddo's got guess who but as much as I explained how to play they just.didn't.get.it. They kept asking questions that were based on their own picks instead of trying to pick the other persons .... was a little frustrating, but then I realised that if i just left them to play their way they were just as happy lol.

Well we just finished up a game of monopoly now - was just the kiddos and I as steven went into work early.
Can't quite believe it, but we all just got steam rolled by ............ little money bags Rylan!!
The older two are totally peeved and can't believe it, me I can't stop chuckling at the sneaky little bugger .... that'll teach us all for underestimating the little one lol.

Pass the pig is a good game, and we do like pictionary and trivial pusuit.

Have you ever been or have the shop Socrates up north? They have some great games in there. We have a few for in the car where they work thru different stages and it can be played by one kid. Must look up the names of them for you.

Othello

a strategy game, basically 64 pieces one side black the other white, you choose a colour and then try and "change" as many pieces on the board to your colour by having your colour at each end of a row. Its quite addictive.

Love scrabble and the score so far is Mumsy(me) 38 Bubble (Sophie) 6. So I think I am winning and yep highly competitive when it comes to games. Just ask the people I play on trivia nights!!!!!

Love montony oops I mean monopoly and also lose the will to live with Trivial Pursuit

Scattergories is another fave and so is Uno.

Love dominoes and if anyone has played "cribbage" or is that too English??
