Just wondering if you know where I can go or if there is a place online that I can get advice about writing the ideal cover letter and resume to be able to apply for jobs.
It has been some since I have had to do either so I am somewhat out of touch of what is the preferred template method for a resume and what order everything needs to be listed, what should be included and what doesn't need to be etc. I know that different companies have different requirements.
Any ideas????

sorry shaz ....i don't know of anything like that ......
but when i do mine ...the thing i keep in my head is short and sweet, time lines and points ...cause i know what it is like to be going through resumes ...and i loved it when you open, see and know where and what this person has done , and the other thing that personally i can't stand ...is when somebody starts a letter with "i'm am writting to you" .....i m instantly going in my head ...DDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrr i am holding a letter in my hand ...lol...but that is just me :o:o:o.....i think it is so much nicer to start a cover letter off something like this
i wish to apply for the positon of "blah blah" which is available at your company....but just not with ...i am writting to you :o:o:o
so there you have it ,,,my bits and bobs worth ...lol

Thanks Lorrie and Sammi. Went to sit down and right a cover letter and tweak the resume but just sat there staring blankly at the screen and my mind went all blank. I just don't feel inspired when I am tired and I am out of practise for having to write cover letters. It has been too long. Sigh......
Yep I know exactly what you mean Sammi about the "I am writing to you....." being some what redundant.

Now here's the thing.
Cover letter is the last thing you do.
Resume the first.
Cover letters need to address the selection criteria. No good writing I am applying for the job unless the you can follow up with what you personally will bring and why they should hire you
Shaz I have sent you via PM my email address as Resume's and cover letters are something that I help people with all the time and would be happy to help you in any way possible
