We are here we are here...... god peak hour traffic is suicidal isnt it.....
Any way a bit of a wait to check in and grab a quick crappy breaky and we were off.... It was the most smoothest flight i have ever had. we came with tiger airlines. now watching the melbourne news to try and work out clothes and thinking my normal clothes are all ok but god no..... as soon as we got here we are in shorts and singlets... ive forgotten what warm weather is. so i think tomorrow might be a day shopping for a couple of tops.... any sugestions on where we can go? we are in ashmore....

oh and we came up the freeway/highway here but i thought the last time that going through surfers was quicker.... what do you locals think (from coolangatta)?

already kicking back.... might have a swim after we go food shopping and before dinner.... ahhhhh i really needed this....

LOL at the security beeping Lorrie, should have warned you as my mum had the same problem with her knee replacements. Send you a text but just in case you didn't get it - welcome to Ashmore :) hope you have a terrific time. Across the road from red rooster and Hungry Jacks is a shopping centre called Ashmore Plaza, there is a little scrapbooking shop in there, might be worth having a sticky. Also down the road in Parkwood is the Aussie rules club the Sharks, great place to have a meal and they have giant aquariums in there with real life sharks, might be nice for Blaine to have a sticky.
Oh yeh and next time come up the Pacific Highway, never ever take the Gold Coast highway, way too busy.
Anyway enjoy :)

Lorrie Australia Fair is in Southport just around the corner from where youare really, you go to Nerang Southport road (which you should come out on when leaving Ashmore Palms) and take a right around the roundabout, just follow that road until you hit Scarborough Street, take a right and Australia Fair is on your left, you should see an overpass, it is a walking bridge from the carpark you can either turn left or right to park your car, be beware though they charge for parking, first so many hours
are free and then they start charging.

For sentimental sakes when you are at the scarborough street entrance is there still a jeans west ( or just jeans, can't remeber which) on the corner? If so the shop to the right, if it is still a takeaway used to be ours for almost 5 years ( fish and chip shop). Has changed hands a few times since, lol. Also worked in the shop next door to it for a few years, is a bank of some sort now I think.

Anyway have fun!!

wow Hetty the tour guide..... I think I should have you in my pocket so you can take me here and there.

We picked up the x from the airport tonight and just got home from Lone Star for dinner. The table next to us Normey Rowe was eating at... Had to point him out to Mum too.... anyway, we were over charged, stuffed our order and have full tummies... cant win them all I guess...

Tomorrow we are off to Movie World... so will catch up with you all when i get home from there...

well the holiday has been lovely.
Wednesday we went to movie world. Went on the wild west fall and screamed my head off... Dont worry i got a photo to share.... got off dripping wet. Love the stunt cars and who ever was in the red marvel man costume,,, hubba hubba.... ;)
Thursday was shopping at pacific fair... wouldnt give you 2 bob for that joint.
Friday was a massive day at Australia Zoo. Loved it and would love to go back once they get all the continents set up. about 4 years apaperntely and 4 times as bigger.
I had a photo with a croc, yep a real one, fed an elephant and pat a koala. But the best part of it was the tigers. I could have stood all day and watched them. Blaine loved them too and had to drag him away from them. We all brought some exclusive photos from there and i will frame and put on Blaines wall.
After a very slow long drive home, we then drove to the airport and dropped the x off.... then takeaway chinese for dinner. A hot shower and finally got into bed ( I was buggered) then 1am the phone rings, My neighbour tells me my house has been broken into. So I have spent the whole night on the phone to police. and this morning was insurance, security, landlord and more and more police.
They say the thieves were disturbed cos they ransacked my room and didnt touch anything else.
Took all my jewelery and blaines motorbike and gear... well thats all i know of atm until i get home and have a look myself
I balled my eyes out and have been shaking ALL day. They say it seems like its somebody that knows me which makes me feel even worse.
Angry is an understatement and the thoughts running through my head is worse. So theres my drama... only me I tell ya... i must of killed 1000 chinamen in my past.... the luck ive had in the past 7 years is shocking but that 7 years ends in 2 weeks so lets hope its the start of a whole new life and luck.... cross your fingers for me girls... I need it...
On a positive note my house has had a complete make over...lol
and tomorrow we are off to dream world. Monday we arent sure what we will do..... either white water world or sea world..... will decide monday i think....
i would hate the thief to go back, they might end up wearing a fishing spear gun... anyway I will try and get back to you all soon.... well as soon as this bloody forum starts working propeerly again... stay safe and missing you all.

Oh Lorrie thats a terrible thing to happen while you are on holidays. There are some very 'special' people in the world arnt there - bastards.
Sounds like you are having a great time on holidays though.
Isnt Australia Zoo the cleanest, most lovely zoo ever. I love it though I really do think the whole mood has changed since Steve died.
And havnt we been having gorgeous weather too. That is one thing I will miss when we head back to Melbourne at the end of the year. I LOVE Queensland winters (I hate summers though).
Anyways hope you are not too stressed out and still able to enjoy your holiday.
HUGS

Glad that you are having an enjoyable time at all the attractions that you have been visiting Lorrie. I bet Blaine has also been having a blast. Hope you have been taking heaps of photos.

Really sorry to hear about you having been broken into. You were so looking forward to this break away and then to have this happen is really lousy.

Wishing you safe travels for your return.

Oh that completely sux Lorrie, hope you are still enjoying the rest of your holiday. Yeh I hear you about Pacific Fair not my favorite place to shop either, completely done for the tourist I think. Robina Town Centre is supposed to be really nice now, haven't been there since the upgrade though but it is suppposed to be really big.
Anyway Lovely don't let the thieves ruin your holiday!!!!!!

well we are home..... im very "walking on egg shells" kind of feeling. I did everything to avoid coming home so I stopped to pick up a parcel at work, stayed at mums for a bit, detoured and went out for dinner and it started getting dark so headed home. I pulled up in the front opened the garage, seen the bike gone and things moved and shut the garage, got out of the car and went next door. I couldnt bear to walk in the house on my own so poor Anna and Scott came in with me. I was so scared and shook like a leaf. I have had visitors right up until now. Im not sure what to do, lock the doors, leave them like before, put something beside the bed to protect me..... Im a nervous wreck. In 7 years i have been on my own and have never felt scared or alone but that has changed now. If I ever find out who has changed our lives because of this, im sure they will be very sorry.
I cant even think to see whats gone. I know there is a box in the garage that is missing, but for the life of me have no idea what was in it. i only know there is a blank spot where it was.
My jewelery.... gosh... I havent worn it for a while so trying to remember it all and i know im going to miss something... its all so very overwhelming.
I got home to fine a lease renewal.... well thats something i am going to have to think about now.
I will pop up a post about the holiday as soon i get a chance. Thanks girls for all your lovely comments and thoughts. i really appreciate them.

every time Shane goes away I hate the nights, they are the worse, my mind works over time and I bearly sleep cause I wake to every noise.... not a nice feeling that, but thankfully we have never been broken into (only my car). I had the Mobile under my pillow just incase someone ever did break in

Actually you know what helps me to sleep better is one of the boys in my bed, as weird as it sounds it works.

Be thinking of you tonight

good to hear your home safely Lorrie and I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Don't know what to suggest about your feelings about a breakin as have never been in that situation, thank god. Perhaps the police can suggest someone for you to talk to.

just had the insurance people here taking pics and getting values.... nothing better than hearing that i had nothing taken of 'serious value' I had to giggle..... my poor jewelery wasnt expensive apart from a necklace and a ring, both under $1000 and the rest well what can I say....
So now i have to scan pics and re-do a list and add values... so much for taking it easy the next couple of days

As for the move, i havent ruled it out yet. I spoke to the landlord today to thank him for doing everything so quickly and he seemed to want me to stay on telling me that the area has been safe and i shouldnt worry... but i think i just have to see how i feel for a little while.... But I did tell him that i now have a dog for security ;) so Lilly is officially family at home

digi_gal
12-08-2009, 07:15 AM
Lorrie it is good that the insurance people have gotten on to dealing with your break in quickly. How annoying to be told that you haven't lost anything of 'serious value'. No matter what the cost of an item once it needs replacing the dollars quickly add up and when you think you might not have lost anything of too much value when you write it all down and see the total value you can often be surprised.

If you did decide to move from where you are is there many rental opportunities? How is Blaine handling everything?

*Anthea03*
12-08-2009, 08:34 AM
sounds like you have a good landlord there Lorrie.

just take it one step at a time!!

they didnt take any scrap supplies did they? LOL

admin
12-08-2009, 09:19 AM
they only took jewelery and blaines motor bike and gear.
Your right Shaz, doesnt look like much but wow when you write it down it sure adds up

Blaine doesnt know anything. With his aspy's he is very emotional and nervous so if i told him i think it would send him over the edge. He doesnt need to know and if he asks where things are well I will deal with that when i come to it.

I had to laugh at my list. i have jewelery that I had as a teenager and to write $40 here and $50 there looked very funny, but yep your right, it adds up...

Oh Lorrie - after telling me that it was a 'safe' area to live now I am worried about buying in the area. Might not tell hubby about this - have only just convinced him that the area was better than where he wanted to move to!!!! Did they do any damage getting in at all?
As for sleeping - I am on my own (with the girls) 6 nights out of every 14 and I sleep like a baby - I dont want this to change when we move to Melbourne if Chris has to do night duty). Nothing worse than feeling unsafe in your own home.

admin
18-08-2009, 07:56 AM
nothing damaged at all Trac.... actually the house looked just liked i left it. They say it was an insider so do I still think the area is safe? yes Will I move? not sure but it will only be because of a rent increase.... Im staying in the area, I love it and im pretty much back to normal now. Im just not so carefree about leaving things unlocked or opened.

sharon
18-08-2009, 09:20 AM
Lorrie I know exactly what you are talking about
As i said, unfortunately i was robbed twice in a few months about 10 or so years ago

Never had felt unsfe about being on my own at night - though i am fairly security conscious - comes from living on my own for so long i guess - and after those Frankston murders in the 90's etc - i just didnt take chances with not having locked doors and so on

It is the invasion feeling that was hard to deal with for me - though not heaps was damaged - except windows etc , where they broke in - there were the usual things taken - first time - VCR, CD player, TV, CDs - trying to remember those was quite a job -= now i keep a list on the computer + all our DVDs etc - just incase

things can be replaced - but not everything - they took my late grandmother's ring etc - and that was irreplacable!

2nd time - they went through stuff upturned drawers etc - CD player again, jewellery, camera etc - probably younger kids taking what they could grab . they left blood on in the laundry and on carpet from a cut they got from broken window they climbed in - as cops said ":Pity they didnt cut a hand off at the wrist so we could get some good prints!!"

Did feel unsafe - not for myself - but for my home and possessions for awhile - but got security system, sensor lights, etc installd. They certainly are a deterent or at least will make the crims try next door instead.

Hope that you get back to normal soon - it does take a while but just taking each day as it comes and getting that guard dog Lilly workin for ya will help :)

admin
18-08-2009, 10:39 AM
oh definetely Sharon... Lilly has been a good little gaurd dog. Tonight she went off tap at something (shes not much of a barker) but she was going nuts so I flicked on all the lights and went outside. Im not sure if it was a cat or somebody in the vacant block but there was nothing there after that. The block beside me is up for sale so if i do decide to stay atleast hopefully the block wont be vacant anymore.

sharon
19-08-2009, 08:11 AM
Yeh didnt think of the block next door - that does make you a bit more 'open'
When you say 'an inside job' do you mean someone had a key and got in??? Just that you said there was no damage so i assumed they didnt pry open a window or door

admin
19-08-2009, 08:14 AM
No only 1 set of keys and I had them. They broke in through the dinning window near the glass back door. They broke the fly wire as well as might dragonfly garden lights getting in. They left through the garage door as the internal entry didnt have a dead lock but it does now!! :D they just seem to think it was somebody that new that i was away and new where they were going in the house... thats what i mean by inside job.... and no I have no idea butr if I ever find out!! watch out!

Julie H
19-08-2009, 09:23 AM
Shite - how did I miss this :o
Am so sorry to hear about the break in while you were away on hols Lorrie. Glad to read that the insurance people where quick to help out while you weren't there .... I hope that the police have got it wrong and it wasn't someone that knows you, kinda a big blow to the stomach to know that someone you know would take such advantage of you.
Big hugs to both you and Blaine.

admin
19-08-2009, 10:26 AM
thanks Jules.... yeah im hoping the same too cos not many people knew i had a jewelery let alone a jewelery box... but the more i think about it it must have been proffessionals looking for jewelery cos they went to every spot possible to find it, I guess the motor bike was a bonus. If it is somebody i know, god help them if i ever find out. Its more the un nervy feeling all the time., especially when Lilly barks... Im straight out the door waiting for them to show their ugly mugs!! now Im in the midst of deciding weather i stay or move.... will depend on the landlord and what and if he increases the rent.
