Does anyone here own an Apple computer? With my computers hard drive failing like it has just considering what my options are now and whether I buy a laptop or another desktop. Daryl is thinking that maybe I should look at getting a mini mac.

I LURVE apple computers!! We have 2 - a laptop and a desktop. My laptop is *awesome* - i've had it for 4 years now and it's still going as good as the day i bought it!! The only thing i've had to replace is the battery pack - *once*!!!

Our desktop is more Jeremy's computer, but it's out in the kitchen/dining room and we've set it up as a TV as well as a computer, so it's an awesome media center. It's one of those computers where the actual computer is in the screen, so it takes up NO room!!!

Do it!! Go Apple - you'll never go back!!

Ange just curious to know what attracts you to wanting to buy an Apple computer? We have pretty much decided that we will be buying the mac mini. I would love a MacBook or iMac but not in my budget unfortunately. Since we already have the peripherals will be making do with those for the time being. I have never actually used an apple computer before so hope that it isn't too much of a learning curve.

I was just curious as to why a Apple over the others? I know they look good but are there any other benifits? or is it just personal preference?

Everyone at work who is a bit of an IT "geek" has and Apple and they swear on their reliability and in our media room next to my office all the digital story boards (yes I can actually create story boards but still do not know how to operate our DVD at home- go figure that one ;) Blackboard or IT work that I do is on the Apple and I find it so much easier to use and very friendly to us not so ITish people. The only thing about them that irritates me is the keyboard, its so damn little. However that aside I like the graphics, I like the icons, I like the size of the screen 26" which for this oldie is just perfect. The price for me is about a 1/3 on top of replacing this computer that we have and as I am now studying I will claim it against this at next tax time so will ge a bit back.

My next question to the Apple people will be about replacing the keyboard with a wireless one and see if that can be done cause I seriously do not like the keyboard

I have often wondered the same question. Why an apple.

The engineers at work tell me that the Apple is great if you are using graphics program, otherwise it is much of a muchness.....

I dont know, I think its a bit of trend thing.

So basically it comes down to personal preference? no one computer is any better then the other? it is also dearer then the other brands too is it

Anthea the apple computers do appear expensive compared to the PC. A classic case of you get what you pay for though and I have been reading on some mac forums and they are a computer system that last and do retain their resale value. Mac computer owners are die hard apple fans. They reckon once you own an Apple you don't want to go back to a PC. With us getting a mac we are looking at running a dual system with both apple software and windows xp so will have the best of both worlds. Apple are said to be a more stable system and less prone to viruses. Alot of digital scrapbooker, designers etc all prefer the mac as they have great graphics. Also with the mac they retain the same basic operating system and don't continually upgrade like from XP to Vista to Windows 7 where you are continually forced to upgrade or not be supported.

Ange the mac does have a wireless keyboard and mouse. I didn't get those though as I am just going to continue to use my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Also the mac mouse only has the left button to click and not a right click doesn't it.

Anthea alot of people also buy a mac system to use as their music and media centre. They can hook the mac mini into their tv and use their computer through their tv. Mac sells a remote control so you can sit back in your chair and operate your viewing just like you would a tv remote. LOL.....

Thanks =)

I was talking to Shane about them and he said guys at work were talking about them being great for Graphics, which I spose is great for photoshopping and he wants to run his flight simulator on it too, which means he wants to hook it up to the TV and play, so I spose thats a positive, Im just worried about programs we already own and may buy might not be compadible with Mac? Im willing to pay extra to get a system that suits us and I am also willing to wait till I find something that perfect cause who knows when we will think about getting a puter again
