Whale Watching

I took Emily (miss almost 13) whale watching at Hervey Bay on Sunday (and got to see my mum who flew up from Melbourne) and OMG if you havnt had a chance to do this do yourself a favour and go. We had a truelly awesome time, it was super special and a magical experience. Mum and her friends went on the friday and although they had a fantastic day they didnt see as many whales or as much action as we did. Our captain actually said that we had a very 'lucky' day and even told us to go and buy a lotto ticket. We saw it all - peck slapping, breaching, tail slapping, spy hopping, whale 'footprints' , dolphins and sea turtles. We couldnt believe how inquisitive they are - coming right up to the catamaran to check us out. I would love to go back in November and see the mothers and calves coming back in as we really only saw the smaller jouvenile animals. We went on the MiKat and I couldnt fault them. 6 hour cruise and a yummy lunch and morning and afternoon tea included. With a glass of wine (or OJ). And very informative.

I also dropped into the scrap shop to catch up with Hetty but she wasnt there (Boo Hoo).

Oh wow, I'm envious.......have been out dolphin watching at Port Stephen but would love to see some whales, who am I kidding....I would just love to go to Hervey Bay.....whales would be icing on the cake

When we moved to Parth and back again we drove all the way and stopped in at Head of Bite both times to see the whales, we didnt get as close as you but it is still an amazing feeling to be in the presence of such gorgeous creatures! We even got to see an Albino Calf, just lovely

We went many years ago (girls were still in primary school) to Hervey Bay and went out and saw the whales, Just magical.......... thinks Geoff and I need to do this again!!

Oh Tracy what a great experience and yes you were very lucky to get to see all that. We went a few years ago and it was really dissappointing, only got to see them in the very distance, hardly worth the time and money but it sounds like you had an awesome time.

Now maybe Lorrie you could organize a retreat in Hervey Bay next year ;);), we could all go out whale watching, wouldn't that be fun.
