What does everyone find works best for tracking your layout count? Do you keep a record in your signature that you update regularly, keep a record on your computer, have a diary that you update for each completed layout or what works best for you?

OMG, you ladies put me to shame. Today and tomorrow I am finishing off the writing of a training program for Caterpillar. (i am procastinating at the moment on the forum). I don't go back to work until the 21st and have promised myself to scrap on some of the last two weeks of freedom. I like the January challenge and Sammi's resolution challenge. Will off the page stuff count as well and what about off the page albums and such like?

Shaz I have just gone through all my layouts and filed them according to the year I made them in my windows explorer. I then realized I have only been scrapping seriously for 2 years - feels a lot longer than that and yeh the first layouts I have done are rather comical and have gotten rid of quite a few of them as they were just to ghastly but at the time I was rather proud of them. Will be interesting to see how I feel about the work I do now in a few years time.......

Aweful isn't it Lorrie, only this one was meant to come out in a weeks time, but they reckon because of the changes at the mag and they apparently don't have a readers gallery anymore, they can't fit it in, go figure!!!! Don't think I will submit to them anymore..
Also they still have a layout that I submitted for last year's Awards for Excellenc that never got returned with the other layouts as they were going to consider it for future pub, hope they havent lost it as I never heard anymore about it.

Sorry to hear that Nic, I suppose with a change over like that it is bound to happen but it was my one and only acceptance this year. No one wants my layouts anymore, maybe I better have a change of style, mine doesn't seem very popular.

Nic how nice your daugther got an acceptance, I bet she is really proud of herself, good for her!!

Ditto to what lorrie said. Don't change your style Hetty to suit what the mags are after - love it just the way it is chicky!!!

I think publication comes and goes in ebbs - Master's killed my publishing spree for sure - can't sub to the other mags like I used to and SM aren't picking up as many as they used to. They seem to be picking up a certain style at the moment and thats not where I'm at with my scrapping - but am ok with that, will continue to scrap the style that I like and am proud of.

Thanks so much girls for your vote of confidence. I know what you are saying, I like my style as well, I am happy with it but than I think about getting rejection after rejection and wonder what I am doing wrong. I compare myself with you Julie and Nic, having 15+ acceptances already. I had 6 last year and wanted to beat that number as one of my goals for this year and now I don't even have one....sniff, sniff. I know what you are thinking though - don't compare yourself to anyone else, but I am always striving to do better and I think my work has come a long way since even 6 month's ago, but sometimes stroking your own ego is not enough if you know what I mean, you want everyone's elses approval and I am very much seeking everyone elses approval, always have, always will probably, being happy with my own work is just not enough.....does this sound like I am an ungrateful cow? Am I making any sense at all? Sorry to bleat and whine, just feeling a little deflated, thanks for listening!!

Do NOT change your style. And I think you should keep that as an acceptance, after all we didn't know that they were going to fluff the mag and change it on all of us. :mad:

Charlotte's funny I told here that her page was going in a magazine like mine and she looked at me and said can I rip it up. LOL, can't believe she's not even three yet.

Hey Hetty have you tried subbing to the OS mags, you never know what might get picked up.

Julie I have to agree with you on the subbing though, some of what I think is my best work gets a big head shake. They have all seem to go off the track a little.

Hetty i was like that when i was on embellished and tried to keep up with the likings of Julie and sarah and Elly. I even tried to scrap the same style and everything I did I hated. I got to the stage that scrapping became painful and i hated it and I even stopped. Then I did a page, my plain old style and was happy with it and promised myself I would scrap for me. I used to get heartbroken from all the knock backs from the mags as well and no offence Julie and Nic you know I love you girls and I love your stuff but you will find that the mags publish the same artists and in 1 mag the 1 person is in it over 4-5 times.......and the styles are all the same this is why i no longer buy mags unless there is something i like. Anyway enough of my ramblings..... maybe we should start our own mag? we have the talent.... :D

Dear Contributor

As some of you might know by now For Keeps Creative Scrapbooking has merged with Australian Paper Crafts to create a new magazine called For Keeps Creative Paper. Due to the change in format of the magazine we have had to say goodbye to my favourite part of the magazine the readers galleries. We have been sorting through the already commissioned layouts and have been trying to place them throughout the new magazine however this is proving to be impossible with the way the new magazine is set out. Therefore it is with great regret that i am writing this email to inform you that some of your layouts will not be published. I had hoped for a different outcome but this was not to be. We will still be honouring our payment commitments to you and will be returning all unpublished layouts within the up coming weeks.

Yep I got the same email. You wanna hear something funny though, for some reason I must have gotten on their digital subscription list as they send me the link to their digital mag and all I had to do was put in my email address and voila access to their mag and another 5 of their mags, like creative weddings etc. Ha not need to buy now!! :D

Anthea that is terrible they never returned your layouts, I would keep on mailing them until they do. I send them an email in return to the one they send me on Friday but never heard back. I am guessing I can kiss that layout goodbye also.
